The screenshot above is from the commentary “When one pluss one equals war“ in Dagsavisen by journalist Kaia Storvik, which rams home, again and again, how people are “increasingly” loosing faith in a two-state solution and “increasingly” favoring a one-state solution. Any uncertainities regarding the journalist’s own position on this issue evaporate when she asks Nils Butenschøn for his opinion.

Nils Butenschøn

Nils Butenschøn is today the Director of the Norwegian institute for human rights. Before that he was the leader of Palfront, a socialist rival to communist Palkom, who assumed leadership in 1976 with the vision of winning “entire parties and organizations” for Palestine.  Butenschøn was the man who steered the Palestinian cause, whatever it might be, into the mainstream of Norwegian society. As Kaia Storvik must know, Butenschøn has been opposed to the existence of Israel for decades now. When Storvik asks Butenschøn for his opinion on whether Jews ought to have their own state or not, it is not because she is uncertain about his beliefs  but because she knows exactly what they are and how they are aligned with her own.
