Donald Boström calls upon Israel to prove innocence

Aftonbladet’s Donald Boström admits he does not have any evidence of how the IDF allegedly steals organs from people, yet insists that Israel must prove her innocence. Which is an interesting way of looking at things. Here is an unauthorized translation from journalist Martin Schori in  Swedish Dagensmedia:

The journalist who wrote the much commented upon article about illegal trade of human organs from Israel to the USA has received a death threat, Aftonbladet informs.

As Dagensmedia.se previously has covered, an article in Aftonbladet has led to a diplomatic crisis. A civil servant in the Israeli government has called the article “hate pornography” while the country’s ambassador has encouraged the government to take a stand in favor or against the article.

A stand which is yet to be taken.
The journalist who wrote the article, Donald Boström, has now received at least two death threats, writes Aftonbladet.se.

The most serious one, according to the newspaper, goes like this:
”Nazis must die. You are the next victim. We wait outside. You will be the next news item, very soon.
The threat has been reported to the police, he says to Aftonbladet.
– I have been forced to take certain measures and keep looking over my shoulder.
To the question of whether he has any evidence of how Israeli soldiers are to have stolen organs from dead Palestinians he says:

– No, and neither do I claim to. But I have proof of how Palestinians I have interviewed have made such claims.  Jan Helin, editor in chief at Aftonbladet, has in foreign media as well as his blogg gone to a powerfull counterattack against the criticism. He has moreover encouraged Foreign Minister Carl Bildt to comment upon the Swedish ambassador’s statement, which has since been retracted.

Dagensmedia.se has tried to get in touch with Jan Helin.

    Wow,

To think of Sweden and Norway as “neutral” countries is no longer the truth. I am shocked by Donald Bostrom’s article, and the propaganda for Palestinian cause. This is why we have the state of Israel and why we need to cherish it, because if Swedish and Norwegian Jews need to escape the wave of anti semitism, they can come to Israel.

Shame on Sweden for not being neutral. Shame on the newspapers for being advocates for Palestinians, and shame on the Arabs living in those countries – do you homework before you make such blasphemous remarks.

  • Jonas

The fact that the article was published in Sweden does not mean that the Swedish government or Swedish people agree with the content. We have free press, which means that almost anything can be published and that politicians shouldn’t interfere.

This should not be seen as a support for the article. Our ministers never comment on publications in newspapers.

The blame for the horrible article is on the newspaper, not Sweden as a whole.

  • Dear Jonas
Our thoughts exactly! Sweden as a nation cannot be blamed for the actions of a newspaper.

  • Dear Lachicdina

I see your point, yet beg to disagree! Norway and Sweden are indeed neutral countries, it’s only that the pro-Palestinians burn red-hot, while the average person is not that interested in the Middle East at all. So criticism against Israel appears stronger than it is. In the case of Aftonbladet, it would be unfair to blame the entire Swedish population for the Boström’s article. Yet on the other hand the fact that this article could be printed in a mainstream newspaper is indicative of a culture in which criticism of Israel has become axiomatic. Or so it might be argued, and we do at times:)

If Sweden does not condemn this so called reporting then they should certainly expect to be condemned themselves. Claims of freedom of speech do not absolve people from taking a stand against venal self-absorbed hate speech. If Mr. Bostrom should present evidence to support such charges, well and good. However parroting attacks from ‘sources’ is cowardice.

  • Dear Jack Straw

Ah, but is it the business of state to meddle with the press? The problem is rather that the press does not always discipline itself very well, with the Boström incident being a classic example. A decent paper had never printed his article.

The situation in Scandinavia is a bit tricky. We are bombarded with skewed news, and have been for such long time, that many people are ready to believe the worst about Israel no matter how ridiculous the allegation. In other words, there is a large market for bad news about Israel. The media played a role in creating this demand, and now they are supplying it.

Whatever you are doing, keep up the good work and we will do the same. This won’t be over for a long time.

It seems like nobody can say anything about any of the many Israeli crimes against the daily oppressed Palestinians. This horror/terror story is not news to me. I heard and read about this before. This is the first time it is published in a major newspaper and I am glad someone like Donald did it. I admire his courage and honesty. He is a real journalist and hero for daring to report such a hiddeous crime. The IDF soldiers are nothing but professional terrorists and real monsters. Crime and money that what works in Israel.

  • Evi Blaikie

What kind of reporter publishes such an indictment without any proof, then asks the accused party to prove their innocence? And what kind of newspaper allows this?
I understand, (kind of) that the Government of Sweden might not want to get involved in “freedom of speech” issues, but what about the Swedish people? Where are their voices? Why do they tolerate such abismal journalism? Are they perhaps afraid of their newly acquired Middle Eatern neighbors?

  • Loic Le Guen

An article like this would never be printed in America…

I wish our press was as free, but instead I get to read about how scandalous the First Lady’s summer attire is!

  • Dear Evi Blaikie

There does appear to be a large market for bad news about Israel. Anti-Semitism is one force here, surely, but from a left-wing perspective Israel is also an imperialist bridgehead.

That said, many Swedes do question and critisize Aftonbladet for printing Boström’s article. This is not immediately visible as the journalistic corps tends to hold left-wing sympathies. In Norway for example, not a single journalist votes for the Progress Party, which represents some 30% of the population.

Whatever you do, keep up the good work.

Since it is a discussion on Palestinian organs, then allow me to give my opinion since I am a Palestinian.

If you think that the act of stealing our organs is false; then what can we say about the endless atrocities that the Israeli committed against our children. It is documented and being documented every day.

I cannot understand why the European and the Americans countries are tolerating Israel Apartheid System. What about the ongoing crime of ethnic cleansing committed against Palestinians since the establishment of Israel.

If you want to know about Israeli ongoing crimes, then visit the websites of Israeli Human Rights organizations and Palestinian Human rights violation. Star by children’s rights, here is the link:

  • Dear J

Let me assure you that the Norwegian media shows us more of the sufferings of the Palestinians than they do of any other people. Correspondingly Norway contributes more to the Palestinian people (pr.capita) than to any other people. On this site we are more preoccupied with Norwegian society and the way Norway relates to the outside world. One of the problems in Norway lies in how the massive and constant condemnation of Israel is combined with an equally massive and uncritical sympathy for the Palestinian cause. The Norwegian journalistic corps is not so much trying to inform the people as they want to affect them into seeing the world “correctly”. We can only offer you our heartfelt sympathies for the predicament of the Palestinian people and pray that a better solution is soon found.

    All the best, J.

good, its about time people hear the Palestinin side , there is an overabundance of Israeli propaganda in the world, considering Hollywood and mass media is owned by Jews/ Rupert Murdoch….I was watching Access Hollywood and the guy says ‘Shalom’ before hello…if that doesnt tell you who is running things, what does eh? Why not speak spanish or french…propaganda is popping up everywhere on late shows and in the media, I dont appreciate it, I don’t pay to have their political brainwashing implanted into my daily life, as such, I have canceled Satellite in my house. No more paying them to turn me into a sheep who blindly follows like my fellow Westerners (well, some)

My father is Jewish ,i have renounced it – I refuse to be associated by proxy to Israeli crimes…their hate is not my hate, their racism is not mine. I am not a Zionazi who kills innocent Palestinians who throw rocks at tanks for the lack of guns to protect themselves from being run over (RIP RACHEL CORRIE!!!)…the evidence is everywhere to support Israeli genocidal tendancies- those Zionazis give good loving humanistic Jews a BAD NAME!!!

I am like those Israeli ‘Defense’ Forces soldiers who have pulled out of the army so they are not forced to murder children and see their bloody faces in their dreams for the rest of their lives

  • Dear Kitty
    That’s the spirit!
