In Finland councilman Jussi Hallo-Aho has been fined for violating the freedom of worship, after having exercised his own freedom of expression by criticizing Islam on the basis of the contents of the Quran. Now professor Timo Vihavainen, from the University of Helsinki, speaks out in support of Mr. Hallo-Aho. In the Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat, the professor states:

It is a typical story of the intellectuals, going on the cheap. Finnish intellectuals awhile ago took a wrong step into Stalinism, but it have not learned anything,”

For Norwegians this sounds oddly familiar. Our own elites had a fling with Maoist politics in the sixties and never regained their balance afterwards.
