Unanimous rejection of call for boycott of Israel

As the last blog on earth NIJ can now report that the NTNU call for boycott has been unanimously rejected. Belwo, an unauthorized translation from TV2:

Disappointed

– As an academic institution it is NTNU’s task to stimulate to the study of the conflicts between Israel and the Palestinians and how it may be resolved. This makes the university dependent on cooperating also with Israeli academics, and hear their views on the conflict, the board writes in a press release.

One of the iniators behind the boycott proposal, academic (“førstelektor”) Peder Martin Lysestøl, is disappointed over the decision.

– The NTNU-board is shutting its eyes for the sufferings and transgressions the Palestinians are being subjected to, says Lysestøl to TV2 News.

For anyone in doubt, please observe that Mr.Lysestøl and his comrades are dedicated, hard working people who honestly believe they are engaged in a battle against ultimate evil. They will regroup and recover. If it had not been for the tremendous effort of people from around the globe in general and professor Bjørn Alsgaard at NTNU in particular, the motion for boycott might have passed.

A demonstration against the Israeli embassy in Oslo is scheduled for Saturday.

Stay beutiful out there, everyone.

Interesting. The argument given is that the university must also speak to the Israeli side. Now is there a deadline for such a ‘dialogue’ and will the University deny the fact that the Zionist state is in a ‘state’ of criminality when it kills civilians? Thats far more reaching than the university’s rejection of the boycott call. http;//wfol.tv

Could it be that these people are anti-Semites and thus racists without being aware of it?

    Dear Gabor
Ah, there’s a sore point indeed. Difficult to approach that issue. If Akersgata-Norway’s Fleet Street – has judged that
there is a clearcut difference between anti-Semitism and legitimate criticism of Israel, than who is this little blog to disagree?

    Dear Cordoba Ali
All states kill civilians. Norway participated during the now forgotten 99 war in Kosovo, and we are participating today in Afghanistan. The question is: are all states treated the same way? Or do we make more stringent demands of some?

    Dear Ben
Thank you! Without all the international support, we Norwegians might well have failed. Yet ultimately this is about neither Israel nor the Jews. It is about Norwegians fighting eachother. The Middle East is just a hostage.
