Aftenposten: Jew-hatred among Israel’s enemies

Aftenposten‘s Jørgen Lohne today writes an interesting piece on how Israel’s enemies are, at least in part, motivated by racist hatred. This is not something which the Norwegian media often reports on.

Lohne’s article tells of how conspiracy theories concerning 9/11 and the like fester and about how Europe exported anti-Semitism to the Middle East and how the Middle East was never de-nazified after WWII. On several occasions Lohne refers to Jødehat (Jew-hatred), a hefty tome which constitutes the authoritative Norwegian text on anti-Semitism. The book was written mainly by one Mr.Harket, who famously remarked that Norway was one of the very few countries where Finkelstein’s books – on how allegations of anti-Semitism largely are part of the Holocaust industry-were translated and published before there was a book on anti-Semitism.

Unauthorized translation:

Now it is no way so that all arabs or Palestinians are jew-haters. And mind you there are hateful remarks made about arabs from the Israeli-Jewish side also. It is yet not strange that Jews, both in Israel and the diaspora, hold their own special fear for their most fanatical antagonists, many of whom are far from representative:

–All Israelis are military “targets”, a middle aged Palestinian refugee and guerilla-veteran said to me  last autumn.

–Not the children, though?

–Yes, the calm, soft-spoken man answered after a short pause, blowing out cigarette smoke: – After having turned nine!

He was himself far younger when his family had taken from them the life they had led until them and were condemned to the existence of refugees.

If there was more of this sort of reporting, more Norwegians would understand the difficult climate of the Middle East, which is so vastly different from our own.

One Response to Aftenposten: Jew-hatred among Israel’s enemies

Maybe Aftenposten is trying to undo some of the very real harm they caused Jews all over the world when it published the vicious blood libel about Jews harvesting Palestinian organs…

Too little, too late, too limp… in my opinion.

Like the proverbial feathers, it takes one moment to cut a pillow and scatter its contents to the wind and no human can possibly collect all the scattered feathers back into the pillow.
