• A tale of three lobbies
Norwegians are often told of the US Israel-Lobby. But this is not the only lobby out there. The Jerusalem Post recently published an article on the US Arab-Lobby. • Norvège: une convertie à l’Islam décrit un antisémitisme primaire
It is worthwhile to recall that anti-Semitism in Norway goes back to 1814, when our first constitution declared that Jews and Jesuits not be allowed access to the realm. Likewise one can hardly blame the Norwegian Muslims for how, during WWII, nazi-collaborators sent 700 Norwegian Jews to their deaths. And perhaps most importantly: contemporary anti-Semitism […]
  • LMD claims Israel ‘spies out European telecommunications’
Norway has been nervously peeping at Russia since 1965, when the Marjata, a former whaler, was converted into a spyship. LMD now encourages Norwegians to be shocked over how Israel also has intelligence operations. Not only does Israel control US politics, wield mighty “miracle socks”, pester the Palestinians with savage “Homo-imperalism”, and fail […]

Opposition claims gov has made light of anti-Semitism

The Progress Party is Norway’s second largest and has a proven track record for standing up against anti-Semitism. Now one of party’s leading figures,Per-Willy Amundsen, blames government for having made light of, and thereby enabling, the upsurge of anti-Semitism in Norway. Mr.Amundsen appeals directly to Norway’s Minister of Education Kristin Halvorsen (Socialist Left).

Unauthorized translation from the Progress Party’s website:

- Stop the discrimination against Jews, Kristin

According to NRK Jew-hatred in Norwegian schools is on the increase. – Had this been an other ethnic group, one wouldhave reacted more firmly for a long time ago. I agree with the Mosaic Congregation that we must survey the extent of Jew-hatred in Norway, says Per-Willy Amundsen (Progress Party).

NRK has the last year worked on ascertaining the extent of anti-Semitic – Jew hating- attitudes among Norwegian muslims. According to the channel, anti-Semitic attitudes are very widespread.

At the same time it is becoming clear that teachers have been alerted to the problem but have not dared to do anything about it.

- This is classic racism. It is completely unacceptable to bully people because the belong to an ethnic group, thunders Per-Willy Amundsen, the Progress Party’s spokesman on immigration.

The left

Amundsen claims that the Progress Party long has warned against such a development, that is more Jew-hatred in Norway, and that one now has had confirmed what the Progress Party long has feared.

- This fits in with an array of cases where we have confirmed that young people of immigrant backgrounds hold attitudes which are irreconcilable with our democracy. Had it been any other ethnic group than the Jews which had been discriminated against, one had reacted a long time ago. This is unacceptable. One must strike down hard on all forms of racism, he points out.

The Parliament representative believes the left-wing in Norway has contributed to the prevalence of Jew-hatred in Norway.

- The political left-wing has for a long time gone very far in attacking the state of Israel. The criticism has gone far beyond criticizing political issues alone. This is a frightening attitude in itself, he says before continuing:

- Unfortunately the criticism of the left-wing has contributed to provide anti-Jewish attitudes with fertile soil in this country.
