Discuss amongst yourselves: Are rich Jews really "threatening Obama"?
Obama is hugely popular in Norway. So popular in fact that we gave him the Nobel prize before he had the opportunity to deserve it. Now one of our largest newspapers is telling us Obama is being threatened by rich Jews.
Note! The title of this article was edited sometime today (Saturday) and changed from “Rich Jews threaten Obama” to “Jews threaten to withdraw Obama-support”. The question is – did Aftenposten manage to do this on their own or did somebody have to go cap in hand and beg?

Aftenposten changed the title after complaints from readers. The title now reads "Jews threaten to withdraw Obama-support" with the subheading saying "Barack Obama is insufficiently friendly to Israel, several rich Jews believe."
The article in Aftenposten is titled “Rich Jews threaten Obama” and is written by journalist Alf Ole Ask. The article deals with how segments of American Jewry, 78 percent of whom voted for Obama in 2008, find Obama to be too critical of Israel and therefore are considering pulling economic support. So there is the threat: Some “rich Jews” may be considering to stop giving Obama money.
This is not really a threat though, is it?
So on the one hand it is good to see that Aftenposten were able to recognize that the original title was unfortunate. On the other hand, Aftenposten ought to be sufficiently familiar with the history of anti-Semitism to avoid such mistakes in the first place.

I hope the democratic Jews have finally woken up to the fact that Obama is nothing more than a dangerous moron. It is time they will not back him. however, I am certain that the all powerful oil lobby in the USA will take up the reins.
I remember seeing and hearing Obama on TV for the first time. I thought then here we go again, another Tony Blair, all veneer and no substance. That is exacly what the USA has ended up with. The world can hardly be seen as a less dangerous place since Obama become the President.
That Norway like Obama so much is hardly earth shattering news. Why shouldn’t the Norwegian elite like him? After all, he has only taken the European line against Israel. I suppose the greatest memories of this awful prezzie is the fact that he hates Israel as much as Carter (the peanut brain) and his seetting up a national health system. At least I agree with the latter, to some extent.

A word for word translation (sorry for the awkward language): Barack Obama is too little Israel friendly.

By the same token, Aftenposten has never taken any time to write about the much richer Arab donators to the democratic cause, but for some reason, Arab money has not translated into Arab (Muslim) votes in the US.
It would behoove the journalist to consider the underlying aspect here – 78% of Jews voted for Obama. Many of them are now disgruntled and may vote differently next time. it is unlikely that it is only the Israel issue that has made them go cold turkey, the man has not delivered on his promises, and that carries a very dear cost.
How strange. Aftemposten like all other anti Zionist/Israel organisatons deny being anti Jewish. So what is this then.

There is seriously something terribly sick in today’s Norwegian society. It would appear to be a disease starting from within (or at the top) asnd consuming the rest of the body. Stefan, I reacted very strongly myself. But Aftenposten altered the title, der Sturmer would not have. Also, der Sturmer wanted to incite anti-Semitism, Aftenposten has no such conscious desire.

Dear Admin, I am sorry to disagree with you. I have seen various cartoons of Israel, Israelis and Jews in the Norwgian media. Much of it by your kind selves.
Some of the cartoons are definately in the style of Streicher and die Stuermer, unfortunately.
As Jews, we have witnessed this kind of crass and hateful behaviour in Europe for 2000 years, and it still continues. When we see this style of reporting, our canaries inform us of danger below the surface. Today, it is also on top cof the surface and quite unashamed it is too.
We didn’t believe Hitler and received very little help from the majority of countries that did try to save it’s Jewish citizens, such as Denmark. So when we watch demonstrations calling for death to the Jews and the Zionist state and that we are source of all the problems in the world, we believe what we are told.
There are many decent people in Norway, however, it would appear that the majority blame Israel with only a minority supporting it. Whaever the reasons, it is a sad reflection of Morwegan society as a whole.
It is not we who are the extremists, we are just edxtremely concerned for our lives. Paranoid we are, with good reason. As stated before, that does not signify that we are wrong.
Martin, while I do agree that some of the material coming out of Norway looks similar to something from die Stürmer, I believe the intention behind the material is different. Die Stürmer carried anti-semitic material based on anti-semitic intent. Norwegian media carry anti-semitic material out of ignorance, arrogance and insensitivity. To put it this way: Die Stürmer knew what it was doing, Aftenposten does not.
