Update: Norwegian media have reported on Palestinian rocket killing an infant

After uploading my post on how the Norwegian media did not report on the UN finding that the Palestinian infant Omar al-Masharawi most likely was killed by a Palestinian rocket, I then discovered that whilst I was writing my blog post, major mainstream media eventually also reported on this (although I would like to take credit, I think my input is very unlikely to have swayed anybody at all) – possibly a reflection that the mainstream media now has realized that they are being monitored and that the average Norwegian is a wee bit tired of the endless and biased rants against Israel. In other words, they have understood that they no longer can behave like a monopoly and block out information they don’t like.

So, to my delight, the NRK, Aftenposten, Dagbladet and I think even VG reported on the UN report.

They are all more or less neutral, however underlining the difference in fatalities between Gaza and Israel, as if there is a direct mathematical relationship between the suffering experienced on both sides. I can assure you that the fear felt by the average and, lets be frank about it, the economically less well off, Israelis that live close to the Gaza border is equal to the fear Palestinians who are unfortunate enough to live under such ruthless rulers as the Hamas and their blood thirsty accolades, who willfully and as a political tool put their own population is harms way by encouraging terror outfits to install their rocket launchers or weapons factories in busy and crammed neighborhoods. Of which no mention at was made in any of the articles published by the way…

Dagbladet does however go one step further than the others, where in two paragraphs they attempt to relativize the impact of Palestinian rockets pummeling the Israeli side of the border for years, while highlighting the consequences of same cruel policy on the Palestinian population. I believe the word I am looking for is propaganda. Well, you can judge for yourselves…

The Israeli offensive consisted of hundreds of air strikes against targets in Gaza to stop the flow of Palestinian rockets from Gaza at Israeli towns and villages on the other side of the border.

The strong images of the suffering al-Masharawi, and the fact that he was the BBC’s work, gave additional momentum and became a symbol of the brutal military operation in which Israeli defense forces conducted 1500 air strike in a week.

The media picked it up very late.
