Gov’t proposal: Circumcision to be performed in hospitals

2000 infants can be circumcised in hospitals
Minister of Health and welfare Bent Høie , H , believes it is most prudent to offer circumcision at public institutions .
Valentine Dommerud
Bent Høie allows for newborn boys to be offered circumcision at the hospital. The proposal for ritual circumcision in public hospitals are being promoted in Parliament over the coming weeks .

– When the children are circumcised in hospitals by competent personnel , we will prevent complications , says health minister.

Today three doctors were given warnings and had limitations imposed on their medic’s license  after an infant died after circumcision almost two years ago. The boy died at home after being circumcised in a general practitioner ‘s office in Oslo. Minister of Health and welfare Bent Høie think you get better control of these operations by incorporating it in the public health system .

Simplest in public institutions
– We will ensure that circumcision is done properly in hospitals and by adequately trained personnel. Also, parents will receive appropriate information and good support . This is a simple and easy offer for the public , says Høie .

He said many of the boys can be circumcised in the hospital before returning home after birth .

– How did you arrive to this decision ?

– This is the most realistic way to ensure that infant boys are protect against harmful side effects  . All other proposal has the consequence that they risk exposing the infants to injury.

– Was a ban any alternative ?

– No. There is no other country in the world who is banning the circumcision of boys. I think this is for the same reason mentioned before. A ban on something that is so common for religious or cultural reasons will not be for the good of the children.

2000 infants per year
Approx. 2000 boys are circumcised annually in Norway . According to the Ministry of Health and Care Services , the procedure costs approx. NOK 6400. Bent Høie has not decided whether to impose user fees for the procedure.

In Norway circumcision is practiced on religious, traditional basis by Muslims and Jews. Oslo police is  currently investigating a death where a newborn boy died of blood loss after being circumcised. Previous reports have revealed that boys are circumcised with scissors at asylum seeker reception centers in Norway , and the bleeding infants are then rushed to emergency rooms and hospitals.

Without prejudice, but brit mila isn’t usually performed with scissors?

It is unfortunate that the Norwegian fascist establishment is unable to understand exactly how Jewish circumcision or the Brit Milah is actually performed. Again it was recently confirmed that circumcision has many positive aspects, especially for the cleanliness of women. I refer to male circumcision, not female.

Do you know how many Jewish circumcisions take place in Norway every year?

I think you will find Gerhard, that you are wrong on that one. But I am interested to know why you think circumcision of male infants amount to child abuse? Do you also hold the same about corrective ear surgery, orthodontics, ear piercing, or other elective surgery routinely performed on underage kids? In a recent statement from the UN, they uphold the position that banning circumcision of infant males would infringe on the human and religious rights of people around the world who practice this.

No I don’t know the exact number, but based on numbers I have read in Norwegian media the Jewish “proportion” of circumcisions performed in Norway are under 10 per year. Perhaps if you write to the Jewish Community you could get an exact number?
With regards to the reported practice of using scissors to circumcise infant boys holed up on asylum seeker reception centers in Norway, however removed from any known Jewish practice – and I would guess – the mainstream Muslim methods – perhaps underscores just how important this rite if for the vast majority of Muslim asylum seekers. In order to comply with deeply held beliefs, some are prepared to use even dangerous methods. Maybe this says more about the very poor attention to mental, physical health in Norwegian asylum seeker reception centers, if not to say the profound ignorance social workers show towards important cultural and religious practices of the people they are set to serve…

Don’t expect Gerhard to make any rational and accurate assumption of Jewish circumcision. He’s had his 2 seconds of (reading) glory.
Just recently again, a UN report made very positive criticisms of Jewish circumcision, which was put together by many leading medical authorities on the subject. What, I wonder, does Gerhard place his accusation on, other than the oldest hatred in the world?

Jews need to stop cutting off their baby boys’ penises. You simply don’t cut in someone’s genitals unless you are a qualified surgeon and for a medical reason. Period. Superstition and religious fantasies are not valid medical reasons. Norway is not Somalia.

Here is what can happen. It all started with an MGM (male genital mutilation):

The entire medical community and the responsible authorities (children’s ombudsmen etc.) in all the Nordic countries condemn male genital mutilation:
