Dagbladet 2014 07 24
In this long op-ed; leftist commenter and anti-racism activist states his frustration over primitive propaganda methods used by both parties, but mainly by pro-Pal activists in Norwegian media and politics in the context of the ongoing conflict in media. Somewhat stealthy, he makes his sympathies for Israel clear, pointing to under coverage of atrocities and terrorism directed against Israel, and also express sympathy for the Israeli mindset, seeing Israel as having suffered under genuine threats for such a long time, it would be strange if this did not put an imprint on them. Also, he clearly denounces dehumanizing descriptions and characterizations of Israelis.

THE VERBAL WAR ON GAZA
Dagens Næringsliv 2014 04 24, Kjetil Wiedsvang
In a satirical masterpiece; introduced with objective facts, in where the author also criticize Israeli actions, holding that the kidnappings and murder of three Israeli youth earlier is more likely to be the results of actions by the Hebron-based Qawasmeh-klan, rather than Hamas.
“What’s this about Israel? What other state can act like this without the world community interfering, Erling Borgen asks in Dagsavisen on Monday. He does not have to travel far. Last week, in neighboring Syria, 700 people were killed throughout one day and night of fighting between government forces and ISIL. That’s about the figures for the Gaza war up till now.”
“While death figures in Gaza are summarized in every newscast; the bloodiest day of the war in Syria was covered by an NTB report of 147 words. As far as I can see; it was only printed in Klassekampen”
“The most uncomfortable explanation lies in our inherent racism: the Israelis are like us, approximately. They have democracy and free speech and much else. We are revolted by them being in breach of civilization’s codes. The Arab warlords are, well, different. They butcher each other, one band being as mad as another one. We don’t expect anything else from them. We turn emotions away. But we are revolted by many Israelis having the same lack of empathy over the sufferings of their close neighbors”.

“But the religious Jews NRK meets with in Israel do not sacrifice the civilian Palestinians any thoughts. The rabbi NRK meets with in Israel is aiding a young student in his prayers. He is also occupied with earthly questions. Mainly, striking hard in the Gaza strip. –I think you will find no one here in Israel saying we are making a mistake It is obvious we had to move in, clearing out says rabbi David Stern to NRK”
“Israel, the decidedly strongest military power in the Middle East, paid with millions of American taxpayer’s money; are now entering their 13th day of war against the Gaza strip. This is also reported on in several other media, including Aftenposten. Speculations in media abound, holding that ISIL/ISIS is the most likely source of these threats.
NRK Dagsrevyen 21 (tv news at 21:00) 23.07.14, second news story 2 min. 21:02:58
Yesterday an NRK journalist called the embassy to ask for help finding Norwegian Jews who are willing to talk about harassment bc of the current situation in Israel and Gaza.
He had tried for 2 days to find Jews who are willing to go on tv, incl being anonymous, but no-one dears to participate. NRK spoke with a few Jews who had experienced harassment and even death threats, just bc they are Jewish, without being particularly pro-Israeli or being active on social media or elsewhere. These people didn’t dear to go on tv. The only one who did was the famous blogger and freelance journalist Suzanne Aabel.
They interviewed her in her home with her son. Many Jews feel they are held responsible for Israeli policies and war in Gaza. Aabel says that she has been called “child murderer” while she is sitting with her son. She adds that many people hide the fact that they are Jewish, especially in times like this.
The reporter says that Aabel is the only one that dears to speak out on tv, but people he has spoken to have experienced grave harassment on Facebook and at work.
Interview with Vibeke Moe at the Holocaust center in Oslo, she is not surprised. Moe refers to similar findings in surveys they have made saying the same things. People have also been physically attacked.
Interview with Palestine Committee saying they exclude people with anti-Semitic attitudes
In the context of the ongoing war in Gaza, neo-Nazi website publishes pictures allegedly depicting Israeli atrocities in Gaza. This website also demands the release of mass killer Anders Behring Breivik, which appears rather incongruous, seeing that Dagsavisen recently allowed the publication of a letter to editor; stating ABB represented Israeli values.
