Trondheim against racism Crystal Night Celebration has become a tradition. This year, 23 organizations endorsed the event, from the Progress Party’s Youth and Young Conservatives via Liberal Youth, Amnesty and Trade Unions to the Red Youth and the Communist Party of Norway.

This year’s commemoration took place Sunday at the Market Square, while the Jewish community in Trondheim’s event took place on Cissi Klein space.

The purpose of the event is to commemorate victims of Kristallnacht, and take a clear stance against racism, fascism and anti-Semitism, and that slander and intimidation against minority groups are not accepted.

– Social Disease

The appeal was held by Ameen Chilwan from the Muslim community in Trondheim.

Chilwan termed racism as a social disease, and that racism, in its time led to Kristallnacht. The message from the Muslim community in Trondheim is not to allow this disease to spread in society.

Anna Morseth from  the Palestine Committee read poems, while the Seed the Emcee stood for the musical element.

Morseth calls politically active old timers, who she believes is missing from events like this.

– It is important to denounce Nazism and what happened to the Jews. But today we see that Muslims are subjected to much the same, suspicion and harassment. Islamic State (IS) keeps today with much of the same thing that happened to the Jews. They do away with dissidents. We must not allow such unhealthy attitudes to become pervasive in our society, says Morseth to Adresseavisen.

tolerance day

Kristallnacht is the name of the night between November 9th and 10th November 1938, considered the start of the genocide of Jews and other ethnic, religious, political and sexual minorities. In Germany and Austria were about 200 Jews were killed that night, 1,400 synagogues burned and over 7,500 shops destroyed. The day after, sidewalks covered in broken glass from the Jewish business, therefore the term Kristallnacht.

Around 60-70 people showed up at the Market Square. Many of the young people at the Market Square went afterwards to the Cissi Klein plaza, where nearly twice as many than at the main event had turned up.

Kent Hirsch said in his appeal; The Kristallnacht has gained a symbolic status and intervenes in our own time. We see thousands of people displaced due to ethnic and religious backgrounds. The limits in the richest part of the world closed to those who need protection.

Hirsch believes we in today’s Norway see much bigotry and low tolerance for minorities.

– It is important to gather all the good forces for a more humane society, said he made a suggestion: – This day can initiate a tolerance day.

Ralph Buchmann said a prayer for those who died in the Holocaust.

A pity that the FRP and others of their like actually attended the Muslim/farleft racists before going to the Jewish held event.

I believe I have the reason why Norway loves the Muslims so much and hates the Jews. For too long we have been seen as victims, now that we can fight back, they fo not like it. So a new victim must be found, especially with lots of obscene oil money backing it. In addition when the Vikings sailed out to explore and ravage lands, they were always well and truly beaten by the larger Muslim navies and armies in the Mediterranean. Perhaps that fear is still there of being beaten by their old foe, that is why, very soon, perhaps in 100 years from now, most of Europe but especially Scandinavia will have sharia law and Islam will become the state’s official religion. The socialists are intent on pushing Christianity out, helped by the church and Islam is allowed to grow and prosper.

I trust Norwegians will be happy, as what they have sown so shall they reap.
