Roy Zafrani, the director of “The Other Dreamers,” was turned down by organizers in a decision he termed “absurd,” the Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported Wednesday.

Zafrani denounced the decision while declining to name the film festival in question.

“Film is meant to bring people together, not drive them apart,” he told the paper. “I see films from all over the world, from Syria to Iran, and learn about the people beyond their leadership. No one would boycott an Iranian director because of what his government does, so if he doesn’t get that sort of reception, neither should I.”

Zafrani maintained that the film received no funding from the Israeli government.

“It’s absurd. I’m not a political man. I am not responsible for my government’s actions,” he said. “This is an entirely independent film, with zero funding from Israeli public grants, so the boycott cannot even be justified by saying that it was made with government support.”

“This boycott is simply because it’s a film that shows a different, nice side of Israel,” he added.

“The Other Dreamers” (2013), which follows four disabled Israeli kids as they pursue their dreams, has been screened at festivals in the United States, Spain, Italy, Australia and India.

For goodness sake, when will the Israeli government stop pussyfooting around and just tell the Norwegian foreign Ministry that they can stick all diplomatic measures in a place where the sun never shines.
    Cancel diplomatic relations NOW!

I am not sure that cancelling relations is the right thing to do. However, ” declining to name the film festival in question” and the person who said and put them in the public eye is essential.

Herbie, the shithole of a country is allied to Hamas, a recognised terror group sworn to destroy the sole tiny state of Israel and its intentions to carry on the work of Hitler. That is to annihilate the world of Jews.
Everyone must cry for the not so innocent youths murdered by ABB on Uteya, but must not grieve for the slaughtered Israelis, , not even a 3 month old baby with its head barely hanging onto its shoulders, after it’s head had been almost totally severed from the shoulders. At that age, babies do not have necks. Jens Stoltenberg said that these murderous bastards are fighting for their freedom and the PA/PLo hailed the murderer as a hero.

Even with a new government, the same establishment is in power and exercises the freedom to make malicious allegations against Israel, usually not even bearing to learn the truth. Even the term Jew is used as a derogatory term.

Well I am a Jew and I am proud of what the Jewish people have given to this unforgiving and hate filled world. You see the reactions yourself from the church, unions, media, education, arts, medical etc etc. Norway has an attitude of a peaceful war against the Jews and Israel. so why be nice towards these devious bastards? I equally am unable to understand those Israelis who have married local women and decide to stay there. Yes the standard of living is high in most areas and quality of life can be high. too. but at what cost? To be hated? No thank you. Israel has suffered immensely due to the Norwegian communists within the Oslo Accord, it has been a total disaster for Israel. They all want to see Israel replaced by Palestine and what does that say about the communist traitors such as Peres and Beilin etc who sat with their Israel hating pals to dismember the state of Israel?

Herbie, there are many on the right who believe as i do, and not all are religious nut cases.

These BDS people are the pits.
Oft times I wonder whether Noreay is worth the effort. Good that there are sites like yours, MIFF and some pro active groups.
Situation similar in most of Scandinavia
