Aftenposten: Norway's second largest newspaper Aftenposten today covers anti-Semitism in Malmö in Sweden with the article “Jew-hatered has reappaered in Malmö“. The article tells of how; a) a Holocaust survivor has been called a lier by Malmö-schoolchildren b) the mayor Ilmar Reepalu has denied that Jews have been attacked, that it is no business of [...] Do not go gently into that horrid night The Wall Street Journal does not often acknowledge the existence of the Scandinavian countries. It does so now. The scandalous events in Malmö has seen to that. Perhaps soon, WSJ will pick up on the situation in Norway. God knows we have the material. Excerpt from the article [...] The Tablet – “A new read on Jewish Life” – runs an interesting piece by Asgeir Ueland titled Oslo Discord. Ueland observes that Norway has shifted from being staunch supporters of Israel to a pro-Palestinian stance, and attempts to identify how this change has come about. In an interview with the well-known Israel-critic Lars Gule, [...] Aftenposten’s Jørgen Lohne today writes an interesting piece on how Israel’s enemies are, at least in part, motivated by racist hatred. This is not something which the Norwegian media often reports on. Lohne’s article tells of how conspiracy theories concerning 9/11 and the like fester and about how Europe exported anti-Semitism to the Middle East and [...] The Progress Party is Norway’s second largest and will often be found in fierce resistance to the red-green coalition government. On the party’s website politician Øyvind Vaksdal now voices discontent over how Foreign Minister Støre wrote the back-cover praise for NORWAC doctors Gilbert and Fosse’s book “Eyes in Gaza”, in which it is alleged that [...] During Cast Lead, Hamas successfully hid behind their own civilian population. Their diabolical strategy left approximately 1400 Palestinian civilians dead. Now Norwegian politician Bjørnar Moxnes from Red (Rødt) claims in an op-ed in Dagsavisen that 2500 Afghan civilians have been killed during combat operations. While it is uncertain where Mr.Moxnes has this figure from, it [...] For better and for worse, Norway is accustomed to being so far away from the rest of the world that most of the time they do not even know we are there. When a post from this blog is translated into French in just a few hours, this may be indicative of a situation where [...] It appears that Midtstuen is not the only Spanish-speaking blog showing an interest in Eirik Eiglad’s book “The anti-Jewish riots in Oslo”. As noticed previously Norwegian author Eirik Eiglad’s book “The anti-Jewish riots in Oslo” has been met with quite a lot of interest in France, receiving coverage on a score of websites. After watching the clip above, this makes sense. The flags of Hezbollah, the cries of “Death to Jews”, the burning [...] Eirik Eiglad’s book “The anti-Jewish riots in Oslo” is arousing interest in France. Although we have yet to see this interest translate into sales, this is a promising start. As mentioned earlier the sites Philosemitism and JUIF.org have published on Eiglad’s book. Now Union des Patrones et des Professionnels Juifs des France and Debriefing.org, both with [...] Eirik Eiglad’s “The anti-Jewish riots in Oslo” was reviewed by Aftenposten’s Knut Olav Åmås on February 17th. Although Aftenposten was the first Norwegian newspaper to cover the book, it had at the time already been commented upon by Dutch, Finnish, Belgian, Spanish and US blogs.
