They are just getting organized, and have a lot of work ahead, but do make a habit of stopping by to enjoy the view! Israelindenmark.com.
An article in Stavanger avisen (SA) warns about the development of religiously-based ghettos in Denmark. The SA article is based on an article in the well-reputed Danish newspaper Politiken. Unauthorized translation below: Politiken writes, that they fear that Denmark’s ghettos may develop into fortresses where religious minorities no longer are welcome. - We continuously receive reports on religious crimes, says leader of the Centre for Documentation and Counselling on Racial Discrimination, Niels-Erik Hansen. - If we do not deal with this now, we may end up with a new apartheid-situation, where certain residents are unable to live in certain residential areas, he says to the newspaper Politiken. There are no figures for how widespread the religious persecution in Denmark is, but Police Intelligence (Politiets Efterretningstjeneste) pusblished a report in 2009 which surveyed religiously-motivated attacks with possible extremist motives. Here the number of incidents had increased to 21 cases from 9 cases in 2008. Teacher of political science at Aarhus university Peter Nannestad believes Islam “plays a large role” in the increasing harrasment of other religions in the ghettos. - The most important explanation lies in the “us against them” attitude which exists in some Muslim milieus. If ghettos develop in [...]

Aftenposten today reports on how Danish newspaper Politiken has settled with muslim groups who were upset by Politiken’s re-publishing of the Muhammed cartoon in 2008. While Politiken does not apologize for having published the cartoon, nor promises to refrain from doing so again, the newspaper does apologize to “everyone who has been transgressed against“. General secretary Per Edgar Kokkvold of the Norwegian Press Association reacts to the settlement with disbelief. - I thought this was a joke. It is very hard to understand this decision, and I understand that there are strong reactions against Politiken, he says to Aftenposten.no. He believes the apology may lead to a landslide of requests from groups which feel transgressed against. - It cannot be so that one has special rules for Islam. The transgressive and undesired are also part of freedom of speech, and I am certain no newspapers will do what Politiken has done, says Kokkvold. Kokkvold is curiously sure of himself when claiming that “no other newspaper” will do what Politiken has done. History has repeatedly shown us that once an abyss of cowardice opens beneath us, we humans are quick to plunge in. Besides, we are ok as long as we [...]

Denmark’s so-called Blekingegadebande (The Blekinge Street Gang) consisted of a group of communists who supported the PFLP. Young, middle class Danes in the organization robbed, forged and kidnapped in order to supply the PFLP with guns and money. The picture above is from Peter Øvig Knudsen’s book on the gang – “Blekingegadebanden” – and show PFLP operative Holger Jensen on R&R in the Norwegian mountains. The books mention Norway on a few occasions, but the author says he has never come across anything suggesting that Blekingegadebanden received any support from Norwegians. This may very well be correct, but there were radicals supporting the PFLP in Norway as well. Norwegian reviews on Knudsen’s book sometimes point out that terrorism was unable to find foothold in Norway due to the no-nonsense attitude of the Norwegian communist movement AKP-ml. This is too simplistic. For the first thing, the pro-Palestinian organization Palfront was openly supportive of the PFLP even though AKP-ml’s outfit Palkom was aligned with PLO and Fatah. Secondly, there are better ways of raising money than by robbing banks. Today the Palestinian people are one of the main recipients of Norwegian development money, second only to Sudan. The tactics of the Norwegian [...]
