This weekend, as part of the 3 year anniversary for the Gaza campaign, the NRK gave the best prime time slot for Saturday night entertainment to medic Mads Gilbert, portraying him as a life saving hero in Tromsø and Gaza, as usual a one-sided, glorification program designed to make Dr. Gilbert look like a saint. However, they jumped the bit where he personally blocked military medics advanced surgery courses, something which would have allowed Norway to have two full surgical teams ready to be dispatched to conflict areas where Norwegian soldiers are deployed – but which we obviously don’t have now! In Sweden, when the Swedish national broadcaster aired Løkkeberg’s now roundly ridiculed Tears of Gaza, the leader of the Swedish Israel Information Center, Liza Abramovicz, filed a formal complaint with The Swedish Broadcasting Commission. According to Abramovicz; I believe the decision to screeing of the film, Tears of Gaza breaches with journalistic ethical principles. According to the SVT spokesperson, the film is an antiwar film, but it only pot rays one side and that is a peculiarly demonizing view. It is a very strong and uncomfortable film, which shows the suffering of the children of Gaza during the Gaza [...]

With kind collaboration from a reader with contacts in Sweden. Lets just hope this scenario does not pan out in Norway… Jews are leaving Malmö in Sweden and the community Rabbi fears the hatred he meets in the city. In a unique interview in the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter the Rabbi of Malmö blames the political leaders for the hatred growing with young muslims. In peaceful Sweden Jews are not safe and can not walk the streets without fear. It is almost unreal that this is Sweden in 2011, not 1941. “I wasn’t prepared for the hatred I was to face” In recent years the hatred of Jews has increased in Malmö. many translocate from there. Rabbi Shneur Kesselman has chosen to stay. But when he came to Malmö seven years ago, he was not prepared for the hatred he would face. Seven years ago the Jewish Rabbi Shneur Kesselman and his wife moved to Malmö. He grew up in the car city of Detroit in the northern United States. - We had many Muslims neighbors and never experienced unpleasantness. But in Malmö … when the young guys shout “support Hitler” after me it has gone very far. I wasn’t prepared for [...]

Today, many Norwegians have choked on their morning coffee by reading about this oped in one of the biggest newspapers in Sweden, Dagens Nyheter. I too am perplexed by this analysis, and tend to agree with many a Norwegian pundit, that this is not necessarily sound reasoning and that too many issues have been conflated to become one big unmanageable lump. Nevertheless, this is how our nearest neighbor tends to see us, maybe this view, even if the reflection we see of our selves is unfamiliar – even a grotesque caricature – carries some semblance of truth, uncomfortable as though it may be. Maybe Dagens Nyheter will be the next newspaper to apologize to Norway for such insensitive intromission? I wonder what Barth Eide will write in his oped this time? Unauthorized translation from Swedish to English (any mistranslations are my fault, Swedish is in many ways very similar to Norwegian, but there are some important differences in particular in the use of adjectives and some verbs) The terror has uncovered a deeply split Norway Ane Ørbø Kirkegaard: Norway s a deeply split country and Breivik is not alone with his intentions.
The season of festivals is upon us and in the UK that means a lot of fun and provocations. This weekend, festival goers to Hay-on-Wye literature festival got a bit of everything, starting with a scientist who presented credible studies to sound alarm bells that many Muslim communities, especially from South East Asia, allow marriages between close relatives, and their offspring pay the price with high mortality rates. Pakistani children account for 1 in 3 children born with genetic diseases. The scientist is one of the most respected in his field in the UK, so even if he may have caused one or two persons to have choked on their coffees, he has both expressed himself in such a manner that only the ones with an obsessive disorder can find the slightest trace of racial slur, AND can provide solid scientific proof for his warnings, so is unlikely to be met with ridicule and rejection. It is a very different story for Mankell, the man who after all was not shot in last years flotilla fracas, where the sole purpose of the exercise was for some blood hungry weirdos to sacrifice themselves as martyrs, accompanied by lefties with no better [...]

Is the Nobel prize committee biased in favor of Jews? A Swedish academic makes a ham-fisted attempt at finding out. As Alexander Pope pointed out for us, the proper study of mankind is man. There is nothing wrong then, about studying how groups differ from each other. To the very contrary, this is exactly what social scientists are supposed to do. Whether your work is for good or bad all depends on how it is that you go about your business. It is therefore fair to ask: why is it that this specific group scores highly on such and such a trait? A Norwegian historian recently pointed out that when Jews are disproportionately well represented among Nobel prize winners, it makes sense to study the academic culture and universities they come from, rather than simply assume it is all due to conspiracy and racism. Jan C. Biro, Karolingska Insitute, Sweden, disagrees. He has put together the essay “The Jewish bias of the nobel prize“, in which he finds that Jews are disproportionately often awarded the Nobel prize and that this violates Alfred Nobel’s will, which states: “…that in awarding the prizes no consideration be given to the nationality of the [...]

March 10th: NTB reports that the Wiesenthal Centre is visiting Malmö in Sweden. The title of the article is “Wiesenthal Centre visits Malmö”. The NTB article provides a highly unsatisfactory background of the situation in Malmö, mentioning only two events out of the many which have plagued the city of Malmö over the last years. Malmö (NTB-TT): Det jødiske Simon Wiesenthal-senteret i Los Angeles i USA har tidligere advart jøder mot å besøke Malmö. Nå besøker representanter for senteret selv Sveriges tredje største by. Blant [...]

There is a chill wind blowing over the Scandinavian peninsula. The good thing about Scandinavia is the opulence and the quality of life. The bad thing is that such luxurious, peaceful conditions in general do not produce men with spine. The truth is, we no longer know how to take a punch in these parts, and our leaders are developing policies of appeasement. We are no longer making other people pay us Dane-geld, we are being made to pay it ourself. And as Rudyard Kipling points out, as long as you pay Dane-geld, you never get rid of the Dane. Aina reports: Stockholm (AINA) — A minor scandal has unfolded in Sweden as Assyrian and Armenian groups revealed the Swedish government censored the minister of integration after he mentioned the Seyfo genocide in a speech. Seyfo (sword) is the Assyrian name of the Turkish genocide of Assyrians in World War One. The genocide claimed 750,000 Assyrian lives (75%) as well as 500,000 Greeks and 1.5 million Armenians. The issue flared when Swedish minister for integration, Erik Ullenhag, gave a speech in the main synagogue in Stockholm on January 27, the official Holocaust remembrance day. In his speech Mr Ullenhag said: “Adolf Hitler [...]

Ny Tid recently published an op-ed by Lasse Wilhelmsson, who associates with the well-known Mohamed Omer. For a translation of Wilhelmsson’s op-ed in Ny Tid, see below. This op-ed is very similar to Lasse Wilhelmsson’s speech at Al-Quds day in Stockholm, which you can read here. We have now found out that the other key-note speaker at Al-Quds day in Stockholm was the notorious Mohamed Omer (see clip above). Mohamed Omer is known among other for starting an anti-Zionist party in Sweden (World Jewish Congress). You can read Muhamed Omer’s interview with Lasse Wilhelmsson here: “The bad boy – an interview with Zionist-critic Lasse Wilhemsson” (Swedish). We observe that the Norwegian magazine Ny Tid finds voices such as these respectable and interesting enough to disseminate their ideas. The Norwegian “Israel-debate” is not a debate as much as it is a chorus of Palestinian narratives. This is a one-sided approach which limits understanding of the Middle East’s only democracy and delegitimizes the Jewish state. It is not an approach which furthers peace. linkscolor = "000000"; highlightscolor = "888888"; backgroundcolor = "FFFFFF"; channel = "none";

The Simon Wiesenthal Centre is issuing an travel advisory urging extreme caution when visiting southern Sweden. The advisory is not connected to last week’s Islamist terrorist bombing in the heart of Stockholm. Sweden, Israel and the Jews reports that the Swedish media is not yet picking up on this. Has anyone seen anything in the Norwegian media? SIJ writes: In a meeting with President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, Kantor particularly singled out Malmö as a community where Jews are under such continual pressure that they are moving out. “If Jews are being driven out of parts of Europe once again, this does not bode well for the future of the continent…if the Jews, whose presence in Europe stretches back almost 3,000 years can not feel safe then the new Europe has failed us.” With all respect, when Jews are driven out or made to feel unsafe then it is not a question of Europe failing the Jews – it is a matter of Europe betraying itself. Adolf Hitler was not defeated for this! Whoever you are and whatever you do – join in. Regardless of your skill set, your input will be deeply appreciated. Assaulted in apartment Norrköping Immediately before 18:30 police and ambulance were called to an incident of assault in an apartment in Trädgårdsgatan in Norrköping. Two blackclad perpetrators wearing masks are said to have made their way into an apartment and physically attacked a man with a wine bottle. Blogs tell a fuller tale. Swedish Jihad i Malmö has interviewed the victim. See translation of the interview below: The attack had clear anti-Semitic motives. The first word I heard was “Jewish pig”, then I was hit in the head with a wine bottle four or five times while in a horizontal position. A door slamming in the stairwell made the masked perpetrators run out of the apartment and down the stairs while shouting “Yahood”.
Brother-site Spain, Israel and the Jews alerts us to an article by Pilar Rahola below, of the situation for Malmø’s Jews. Now Malmø is in Sweden, true, but it’s close to the border. Right next door. In more ways than one.

This site has repeatedly demonstrated how the Norwegian media is biased against Israel, among other here. Now the Tundra Tabloids (Finland) and Sweden, Israel and the Jews (Sweden) and Ilya Meyer (Sweden) have made similar findings. Ilya Meyer excerpt In an average month of 30 days, there are never more than 3 days without some negative reporting on Israel in the publicly-funded state TV (SVT). Check out the news function on teletext and on a minimum of 27 days out of 30, there will be a story about Israel. Not about Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, the Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Somalia, Bangladesh. The standing joke in Sweden is that one can always tell when there is a new employee at the taxpayer-funded SVT, because that is the day there is no anti-Israel item on teletext. New recruits never make the same mistake twice, if they wish to keep their jobs. Tundra Tabloids excerpt “The Tundra Tabloids conducted a 90 day research project on Middle-East reporting in Finland, focusing on the newspapers, the Helsingin Sanomat and Keskisuomalainen, from the beginning of February to the end of March. On an average, the HS reported on Israel once every 1.3 days, while the KS every 1.6 days”. SIJ excerpt [...]

Norwegian author and journalist Bjørn Gabrielsen appears to be in the habit of leading with his chin. Just the other week he questioned how his colleague Erlend Loe had lent his voice to the Palestinian narrative at a demonstration outside the Israeli embassy. At the demonstration, which was organized by the AKP-ml affiliated Palestinakomiteen, Mr. Loe chastised Israel severely and said, with a Hizbollah flag flapping in his face, that Israel should be “ashamed”. This made the Dagens Næringsliv journalist suggest that perhaps this was not the first time Norwegian intellectuals, in an effort to be good, ended up as the unwilling bedfellows of despots. As reactions in Klassekampen and Dagbladet were to show, Gabrielsen’s observation was not found particularly desirable. Now Gabrielsen slams Swedish author Henning Mankell, who participated in the FGM convoy which attempted to break the blockade of Hamas-run Gaza. Mankell, who was first reported to have been shot during the IDF boarding of the Mavi Marmara, turned out to actually be on an other ship altogether. One of those on which there was no ambush carried out by khaybar-chanting, martyrdom-seeking, cudgel bashing hotheads. In the op-ed “Swedes who remain silent” in Swedish Ekspressen, Gabrielsen writes (unauthorized [...]
